Ram Island

A popular boating destination situated at the mouth of the Mystic River, one mile from the Connecticut coast, Ram Island has waters ideal for swimming, paddleboarding, snorkeling, and exploring. The 20 acre island was home to a hotel and resort during the Victorian era and even played host to the world lightweight bare-knuckle boxing championship. Today it makes for a fun day-trip excursion to sightsee, play, and relax.

Bluff Point

This 800-acre wooded peninsula jutting into the Long Island Sound contains one of Connecticut’s only remaining sections of untouched coastline. Crisscrossed by hiking and biking trails with scenic views, the state park is frequented by outdoor enthusiasts looking for an immersive experience in a gorgeous natural setting. Other popular activities at the park include shell fishing and saltwater fishing, with a boat launch located onsite for public use.

Mystic Seaport

Considered the nation’s leading maritime museum, Mystic Seaport was founded in 1929 to preserve the history of America’s seafaring past. The 19 acres of grounds are a re-creation of a New England coastal village, complete with a shipyard housing over 500 historic watercraft, exhibit halls, displays of cultural artifacts, and more. Visitors can learn firsthand from the museum’s staff of storytellers, craftspeople, musicians, and shipwrights who perform regular demonstrations of their handiwork. The perfect outing for families and groups, a visit to Mystic isn’t complete without a visit to this incredible museum.

Olde Mistick Village

This family and pet-friendly open air village is full of things to do and explore. Peruse the eclectic assortment of shops for unique gifts and souvenirs, get a bite to eat at one of many charming eateries or catch a flick at the luxury boutique cinema. A number of seasonal events are held at the village, so be sure to check in on the latest happenings when planning your visit.

Saltwater Farm Vineyard

Sample award-winning estate wines along the Connecticut shoreline at this historic vineyard bordered by the tidal marshes of the Wequetequock Cove. With agrarian roots that can be traced back to the town’s founding in the mid-17th century, the vineyard is also home to a WWII-era hanger that has been transformed into a tasting room overlooking an 1800 ft grass landing strip. The perfect option for a day-date or a group outing, the ambiance and offerings of this local vineyard are nothing short of impressive.
