At this laid-back joint, you’ll have the option of indoor or outdoor patio seating, plus a full-service bar where you can grab a few cold ones to pair with your BBQ plate. The menu here is full of mouthwatering selections, from brisket and pulled pork, to smoked chicken and ribs, plus delicious sides like jalapeno cornbread, baked beans, potato salad, and collard greens. Be sure to save room for Laura’s homemade pecan pie or deep-fried cheesecake.
The former estate of Harold Irving Pratt, heir to an oil fortune, this 204-acre densely wooded preserve is ideal for those wanting to immerse themselves in the beauty of nature. Four marked walking trails wind through the preserve, traversing a stunning wooded stream valley with freshwater ponds, swamps, a coastal salt marsh, and even a stretch of Long Island Shoreline. A number of magnificent wildlife species occupy the grounds, including a variety of native mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and over 100 species of birds. A fantastic place to spend the day wandering and exploring in a gorgeous natural setting.
Located in Glen Cove off East Beach Road, Pryibil Beach is ideal for spending a day playing and relaxing by the shore. Outfitted with volleyball and basketball courts, a playground, barbeque grills, a concession stand, and a fishing pier, this spot is set up nicely for families and groups to take part in a wide variety of activities. Be sure to check the latest guidelines for updated restrictions and permit information when planning your visit.
This small, private municipal beach on the Boulevard is a beautiful sandy strip of shoreline ideal for playing in the water and sunbathing. Here, guests will find onsite restrooms, concessions, lifeguards, and shower facilities for their convenience. Swimming lessons and classes are also offered for new swimmers to get acclimated to the water. Boat racks for small boats are available at the beach and can be rented from the Village. Be sure to check for in-season operating dates and times, as well as any current restrictions or protocols for beachgoers.
