If you’re in the mood for competition, there are volleyball and softball facilities to get a friendly game going. The park’s Nature Center also provides a variety of programming for the public year around, so be sure to pay a visit for a fun and educational diversion.
Standing forty feet high on a small peninsula on Lake Champlain’s eastern shore is Windmill Point Lighthouse. Built in 1858, the lighthouse bears an octagonal shape and was originally constructed of blue limestone. The glow from the tower can be seen up to 13 miles from the shore, and provided a crucial landmark for ships navigating among the rocks and reefs. The best way to view the lighthouse is from the water, as it remains a private residence and is not open for public tours.
