Always had good service and fun times at Gaines. Employees are always smiling and helpful. Tim has helped us immensely with our boat this summer and has been very generous with his time. A huge thank you!

Point Au Roche

This fabulous recreational spot is located on the northwestern shore of Lake Champlain. Popular activities on the water include fishing, boating, or tying up at one of the 60 designated mooring sites in Deep Bay. On land, visitors can explore the gorgeous natural surroundings on foot or by bike–from forest, to marsh, to shoreline. If you’re in the mood for competition, there are volleyball and softball facilities to get a friendly game going. The park’s Nature Center also provides a variety of programming for the public year around, so be sure to pay a visit for a fun and educational diversion.

Windmill Point

Standing forty feet high on a small peninsula on Lake Champlain’s eastern shore is Windmill Point Lighthouse. Built in 1858, the lighthouse bears an octagonal shape and was originally constructed of blue limestone. The glow from the tower can be seen up to 13 miles from the shore, and provided a crucial landmark for ships navigating among the rocks and reefs. The best way to view the lighthouse is from the water, as it remains a private residence and is not open for public tours.

Plattsburgh Beach

This gorgeous freshwater beach on the shores of Lake Champlain is popular for a reason. It’s the ideal spot for families to congregate for a day of fun and relaxation by the gentle waters, and, best of all, four-legged friends are welcome to join in the fun. With plenty of great swimming spots, sand volleyball courts, picnic tables, nature trails, and a cabana area, you’ll have everything you need for a wonderful day by the water.

Casa Capitano

This charming and unique aviation-themed eatery is serving up authentic Italian dishes and fresh pasta made daily. The menu is full of tantalizing options, from comfort classics like spaghetti bolognese and cannelloni to sizzling wood-fired pizzas, seafood alfredo, filet mignon with scallops, and more. Be sure to sample from the fresh line-up of delicious homemade desserts. Reservations are recommended.

Lakeside Coffee

This local roastery is proud to produce bold, distinctive coffees for the community while providing a stimulating space for conversation and connection. This spot doesn’t stop at coffee, though–they are open for breakfast and lunch, serving up fresh, delicious favorites like breakfast burritos, freshly baked pastries, crisp salads, hearty sandwiches, and homemade soups. Just a short walk from the marina, a visit to this cheery cafe is the perfect way to start the day off right.
