Martin’s dedication to his role as a dock hand is truly commendable. His professionalism, reliability, and genuine care for the well-being of the marina and its residents are evident in every interaction. Whether assisting with mooring, providing helpful advice on boating matters, or simply offering a warm greeting, Martin’s friendly demeanor and willingness to go above and beyond never fail to impress.

We love our dock at Safe Harbor. We moved here from Michigan and Martin the dock-master has been so helpful as we got acclimated to the new waterways. He found us a great slip, is very attentive and even helps us dock! Very friendly staff and great location, easy Uber to downtown. Pet friendly too!

Clean marina with large slips. Need to be under 15 feet high to pass under bridge on Ashley river. Safe Harbor does it well

Capers Island

This undeveloped barrier island along the South Carolina Coast dramatically lined with petrified palm trees has an other-worldly feel and is excellent for exploring. The unusual beachside forest is home to plenty of interesting wildlife, including white-tailed deer, loggerhead turtles, osprey, and more. A favorite of photographers and birdwatchers, this fascinating spot is separated from the mainland by the salad marshes and Intracoastal Waterway, making it only accessible by boat. Charters are also available from Sullivan Island.

Folly Beach

No trip to Charleston is complete without a day at the legendary Folly Beach. In this gorgeous stretch of wide, sandy, coastline, you’ll find the perfect setting for anything from kayaking and fishing to eco-tours where nature lovers can learn about the endangered species native to the area. The sunsets here are everything to write home about—so gather the family and bring a camera to capture the special moment you can look back on fondly for years to come.

Freshwater & Saltwater Fishing

Grab your tackle box, cooler, and a friend–the waters around Charleston are home to a beautiful variety of freshwater and saltwater fish ripe for the catch. Species include spadefish, red drum, black sea bass, king mackerel, cobia, marlin, and even sharks! Whether you prefer to fish from the beach or plan to charter a boat for a full day on the water, there’s no shortage of opportunities for landing a fresh catch during your stay in the Holy City.
