Sandbar Grille
This casual waterfront joint overlooking Lake Erie boasts a 1600 square foot outdoor pavilion for al fresco dining and transient slips dockside to park your rig if you’re headed in from the water. Grab a drink and catch the game, or pull up a chair and order from Sandbar’s expansive menu, which includes tacos, pizza, seafood, sandwiches, and other comfort food favorites.
Lake Erie Fishing
Even though it’s the shallowest of the Great Lakes, Lake Erie’s waters are teeming with fish of all species and sizes ripe for the catch. You may have heard it called the “Walleye Capital of the World” by other anglers, and it’s true–you’d be hard pressed to find a spot where you can snag a bigger walleye than here. And there’s more–yellow perch, bass, trout, and salmon all make their home in these varied waters. Book a local charter to take you to where they’re biting and you’re sure to have a fun and successful trip.
Kelleys Island
The largest of Ohio’s Lake Erie Islands, Kelleys Island’s gorgeous natural setting provides the perfect quiet getaway. Visitors enjoy birdwatching, hiking along the coastline, exploring in kayaks, hunting for shells on the sandy beach, and observing the world’s largest and most fascinating glacial scoring. The interior of the island is home to wineries, breweries, restaurants, shops, mini-golf, and a wide selection of entertainment.
Sterling State Park
This 1,300 acre park is notably the only Michigan park on Lake Erie and boasts 1 mile of beautiful sandy beach, 7 miles of hiking trails, and three lagoons. Anglers enjoy fishing from boat or on shore and lakefront camping is open for you and the family to spend some quality time immersed in nature.
